How to Beta Test Products

http://live.pirillo.com/ - HorrificOne in the chat room what it takes to be a beta tester.

A beta tester is someone who tests software that the development team feels the product isn't ready to be released.

On a related note, alpha testing comes before beta. At this stage the product is still coming together, and the project is still very viscous. In the beta stage, the product is much more solidified and the bugs need ot be sorted out and fixed before it can enter the "release cnadidate" stage.

Becoming a beta tester is pretty easy: just ask! Often companies will ask for beta testers (either private or public): all you have to do is sign up and stay in contact with the company.

Remember the single most important rule of being a beta tester: be vocal and provide lots of quality feedback. The company you're working with may not use all of your ideas, but they will value that feedback, and possibly invite you to a beta in the future.

What do you think it takes to be a beta tester?
