Is Internet Explorer Safe?

http://go.tagjag.com/pcpitstop - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - We all must browse the web. Unfortunately, the Lynx browser is no longer cutting it. If you don't remember it, then you are not old like I am. PC PitStop community member James asks if Internet Explorer is safe yet. He's been waiting to use the newest version, because he's heard that it has a lot of problems. What are your thoughts on this? Is IE solid, and safe? http://lockergnome.net - http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://chris.pirillo.com

Microsoft Security Updates

http://go.tagjag.com/pcpitstop - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Software is constantly evolving and changing. That's a good thing, honestly. There are always new and better features being added, along with important security updates in some cases. David from PC PitStop asked about Microsoft Updates. He's wondering if they're really necessary, since it takes him so long to download them on his DSL. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net

Fingerprint Problems in Windows

http://go.tagjag.com/pcpitstop - My finger is very secure! It's attached to my body. However, PC PitStop community member Bob wrote in to ask about fingerprint sensors on his laptop. He's been having trouble since updating from Vista to Windows 7. http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://lockergnome.net

How to Add a Monitor With USB

http://go.tagjag.com/vado3 - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - During CES recently, Traci Toguchi was kind enough to cover the events and parties for us, as I was unable to attend. During this interview, she's talking with Seb Hochmuth from DisplayLink. DisplayLink allows you to easily add additional monitors to your PC. You do not need to add a new graphics card, or be restricted by your laptop's hardware! http://lockergnome.net - http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://twitter.com/tracitoguchi - http://chris.pirillo.com

Create Folder Icons in OS X

http://go.tagjag.com/screencast - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Alec has created another screencast for us! Today, he's going to show you how to create your own custom folder icons if you're using OS X. It's not as easy to do as you might think, and I know many people who haven't figured it out on their own. Alec's tutorial will show you how to do this quickly and easily, without having to throw your computer out of a window! http://lockergnome.net - http://www.youtube.com/YourTechStop - http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/

Video Editing Job Gone Horribly Wrong

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - A jump cut is a cut in film editing where two shots of the same subject are taken from different camera positions. This type of editing will cause the subject to appear to "jump" into new positions. For this reason, many classical editors loathe the use of jump cuts. However, Ze Frank made it an extremely popular type of editing amongst YouTubers... especially those looking for comedic value! I thought I'd try my hand at editing using jump cuts. Perhaps I got a little carried away. http://lockergnome.net - http://chris.pirillo.com

How to Convert Files Using Format Factory

http://www.formatoz.com - http://go.tagjag.com/screencast - Trying to convert things from one file format to another can be a royal pain, as we all know. There are many programs out there that will do the job for us, but most of them will cost you an arm and a leg. Format Factory is a piece of freeware that is quite powerful. Matthew's first screencast for us is going to show you how to use Format Factory to manage all of your file formats, conversions and more! http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://www.youtube.com/user/sns0710

How to Protect Your Hard Drive

http://go.tagjag.com/iosafe - There are thousands upon thousands of hard drive enclosures. However, only one of them is both fireproof and waterproof. I have precious video files from the Gnomedex conference on my ioSafe. For the purpose of this video, I completely submerged the hard drive in water, to show you that it truly is waterproof as they claim! Yes - the videos were all still completely intact! I wouldn't try this at home with any enclosure other than the ioSafe! http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://lockergnome.net - http://chris.pirillo.com

Help Desk

http://live.ch9.ms - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - In 1992, I got online, and I was addicted from the word GO! In 1996, I started Lockergnome, even though at that time it was simply a newsletter that I sent out every day. Then, in 2001 I started hosting the show Call for Help on the old TechTV network! I loved hosting that show, because I loved the live help I was able to give to people. I've continued that spirit through our live videos and chat. This Wednesday, I'll be working with Microsoft. You can be part of a new beta program, called Help Desk! http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net

Tech Support Remote Control

http://go.tagjag.com/gta - Once you have initiated a remote desktop support session, it's usually a great tool for your business. However, many of the programs available to help you connect take a long time to get in, and are difficult to use. GoToAssist makes it simple, by providing you with a link that your client can click. Once they've done that, you're pretty well already connected and ready to go. They make it seriously easy for you to get your work done, and keep your customer happy. http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://lockergnome.net

First LEGO Set

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - I'm the one in the KC Chiefs pajamas, although I don't care a lick about sports (the outfit must have been on sale). Decades later, I'm still playing with LEGO and video games - longing for the simplicity of an Atari 2600. You'll have to mix in your own soundtrack, as the video camera did not record sound. Imagine a whole bunch of high-pitched screaming - much like the rest of my videos. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net

First Haircut

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Do not adjust your volume (there is no sound in this video). Back in the day, we were lucky to have cameras that could record video in the first place. This segment sat on an 8MM reel up until recently (when I had it digitized). I thought I'd share with you my first haircut... followed shortly thereafter by my first documented case of OCD... followed shortly thereafter by a romp on a rocking horse. Okay, so... if you want, you can narrate this video for me and leave your creation as a video response. What am I thinking? http://chris.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net

Track Your Mouse Clicks for Fun

PC Version: http://bit.ly/5fffmU - Mac Version: http://bit.ly/5i6gpo - Devir has done it again! He's come up with a great screencast that is something fun for you to do. Haven't you ever wondered how much you use your mouse each day? How many times does the mouse come to a complete stop? How often do you click? Using this nifty little program from Anatoliy Zenkov will let you find out all of this... and create a pretty cool little piece of art at the same time! http://go.tagjag.com/screencast - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://lockergnome.net - http://www.youtube.com/thedevirkahan

Control Scroll

http://go.tagjag.com/pcpitstop - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - On my notebook, I use a touch pad to glide the cursor across the screen. You may use a different input device on your computer to allow you to push the cursor across your screen. I received a question from our sister community, PC PitStop. Jerry asks why the page starts going up and down really fast when he attempts to scroll up and down with his mouse. http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net - http://chris.pirillo.com

Windows XP Mode for Windows 7

http://go.tagjag.com/pcpitstop - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - I love seeking solutions for people. That's kind of what got me started in this whole Internet thing, way back in about 1996. I also enjoy answering questions when I can, especially from our sister community over at PC PitStop! Mike is a CAD designer, and is wondering if his XP software will install and run on Windows 7. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net

Windows 7 Gadgets

http://go.tagjag.com/pcpitstop - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - We are typically talking tech in our community, and that goes for our sister community, as well! PC PitStop has been kind enough to work with us on a number of occasions. So, when they asked me to answer some tech questions from their community, I was only to happy to help! This particular question comes in from Carlos. He wonders if Windows 7 has a sidebar like the one found in Windows Vista. http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://lockergnome.net - http://chris.pirillo.com

Pants on the Ground Song from American Idol

http://go.tagjag.com/talkingcarl - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Pants on the Ground!!!! Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground!!!! If you aren't walking around singing this, I have a feeling you soon will be. This catchy (and hilarious!) song was sung on American Idol tonight, by General Larry Platt. This 62-year-old gentleman may very well have earned a place in history with this self-written tune of his! I couldn't resist. I admit that I love the song already as well. Who wouldn't? It's funny, it's catchy... and the dude has a point! My iPhone friend Talking Carl helped me along the way. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://www.lockergnome.net
