iPad Cable Extension

http://go.tagjag.com/radtech - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - My iPad tends to run out of juice pretty quickly. My MacBook only passes along five watts of power, and the iPad needs ten watts to recharge itself. I could use the wall plug-in, but that would require stringing yet another cord all over my office. Thankfully, the people at RadTech sent along this DockExtender cable for me to review. http://chris.pirillo.com

What Do You Think of the New YouTube Player?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - Matthew has done screencasts for us in the past. This time, he's taking a look at the new video player that was introduced on YouTube just a few days ago. When you mouse over the video, the play bar will pop up and is transparent. This helps keep it from interfering with your watching experience. Your volume bar is now horizontal. Again, this keeps it from getting in the way of what you're trying to view. There are several other small changes that should be welcome additions to most of you. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://www.youtube.com/thematt7000

Processor Speed vs CPU Cores

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - If you had to choose between a 2.2 hz quad-core or a 2.5ghz dual-core one, how do you know which is right? In my mind, you're better off with as many cores as you can possibly get. Even if software is not optimized for maximum cores at this point, it certainly will be in the future. http://chris.pirillo.com

VMWare CPU Usage in XP

http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Some people have trouble gaming inside of VMWare. It tends to throttle their CPU. However, in the newest version of VMWare Fusion one of the toggles have been removed. You can change quite a bit of settings to optimize your virtual machine explicitly for gaming purposes. http://chris.pirillo.com

Will Adobe CS5 Be Great or Should You Wait?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - I haven't yet had a chance to use Adobe CS5 myself. However, I do know that it's a powerful - albeit expensive - program. There are free or open-source alternatives I can use. Most of the photo editing I do these days can be done inside of Picasa. However, there is one feature inside of CS5 that is absolutely killer. http://chris.pirillo.com

iPad DRM Thoughts

http://live.pirillo.com - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - Dylan feels that the iPad is a step back in content consumption, due to the fact that there is DRM all over it. We've tried so hard to move away from the DRM environment. He points out that the Marvel Comic Book app takes away the fun of trading comic books with your friends as an example. http://chris.pirillo.com

Siri is Seriously Cool

http://go.tagjag.com/siri - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Siri allows you to coordinate your activities with restaraunts, local events and more just by talking to your phone. This is a free app which you can grab from the App Store right now. If you're a busy person who has things to do, Siri may well be the answer you've been looking for. You ask - and Siri will DO. Forget clicking a hundred links in your browser to accomplish something. Siri... you have to talk to it to believe it. http://chris.pirillo.com This video was sponsored via MyLikes - http://mylikes.com/video

Why the iPhone Keeps Getting Better

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - The day that the iPhone OS 4.0 was announced, it seemed as though everyone wanted to know my opinion. I'm impressed, but not thrilled. I love the multi-tasking feature, of course. What Geek wouldn't appreciate that ability? I love that the iPhone will remember the state an app was in when I switched to something else. http://live.pirillo.com - http://chris.pirillo.com

TouchCam N1 vs Logitech Webcam

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - I love these kinds of questions. They're short, sweet and right to the point. This caller didn't even introduce himself. He simply wanted to know which webcam is better: the FaceVsion N1 or the Logitech 9000. These types of questions are great, because I've actually used these products myself and can form a good opinion. http://chris.pirillo.com

Web Site Advertising Options

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - This caller is wanting to set up his own web site and make money with it. He has a lot of questions as to how you get paid from advertisers, and how the process works in general. There's a lot more involved than simply buying a domain name and slapping AdSense on it, trust me. http://chris.pirillo.com

Should I Get a Mac or PC?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - I had to chuckle when this particular caller tried to start the old war... Mac vs PC! *sigh* Do you know how often I hear that? However, this guy was a bit more specific. He's starting college, and wanted to know whether I felt an HP TouchSmart computer would be better for him, or a MacBook Pro. I hate when someone asks my opinion on what is better for them! I really do! http://chris.pirillo.com

Ubuntu Thoughts

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - My thoughts on Ubuntu... hah! I think it's a Linux distro. I don't have any issues with the operating system. As far as Linux distros go, it's likely the easiest to use. Any time I say something about one distro instead of another, a war tends to break out. They can all agree, though, that Ubuntu is about as close as Linux has come to being mainstream thus far. http://chris.pirillo.com

Do Computer Majors Mean Anything Anymore?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - The job market is always changing. Computer program majors often find themselves having a tough time after graduation. Mac Mini Questions

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - One caller the other night had some questions about whether or not he should purchase a Mac Mini. He wondered if it's comparable to a Windows PC running a quad-core system. The answer to that is... uh... NO! You can't even begin to compare those two systems. The Mac Mini would be more like a Windows machine with a Core 2 Duo. http://geeks.pirillo.com - http://chris.pirillo.com

Centellino Wine Aerator / Decanter Review

http://go.tagjag.com/centellino - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - You know I love wines and wine gadgetry. For that reason, the people at Centellino sent me their newest aerator to review. Instead of drinking wine immediately after opening it, you want the wine to breathe. You use an aerator to speed up the breathing process. This particular model is made of hand-blown glass, and it looks like a work of art. http://chris.pirillo.com

Burson Headphone Amp Review

http://go.tagjag.com/burson - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - I am by no means an audiophile. My ears don't always even work properly. So, when Burson sent along the Burson HA-160 Headamp to review, I knew that this was a job best done by someone like my friend Imei. She has a lot of classical music training in her background. This made her the ideal listening candidate! There are many times when you may have to use some sort of headphones to listen to your music, watch a video or even play a game. However, you don't want to lose the quality you're accustomed to, right? Using this headphone amp is literally like sitting in a concert hall. The sounds are so much crisper and clearer... more separated, even. It's an amazing difference, even to someone who has ears like mine. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://twitter.com/hipsforhire

Ankit Earbuds Review

http://go.tagjag.com/ankit - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - What type of earbuds or headphones are you currently using? Are they comfortable while still providing excellent sound? You'll get both with the Ankit Ergonomic Noise-Isolating Earphones with G-Bass Technology. They are VERY comfortable, and the sound is honestly - surprisingly - really good. I know that most people don't expect much in the way of quality when using earbuds. I'm telling you though... these are great! Also, if you'd like to win one of four pairs for yourself, leave a video response on YouTube. Backwards Compatibility isn't Viable with Hardware

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - Dylan called in during the live show the other night and wanted to talk about hardware and having to upgrade. He has an iPhone 3G and installed the new iPhone 4.0 operating system on it as a developer. His phone became very hot, and he began to wonder if it's "really true" that you cannot use the new os on older versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Well, of course it's true. Apple has every right to make that cutoff. You cannot expect manufacturers to support old hardware indefinitely. http://chris.pirillo.com

Why the iPad is Perfect for Schools

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - During live phone calls recently, Craighton gave me a buzz. Craighton is a great kid, who happens to live fairly close to my house. In fact... he's BEEN to my house. He was at Gnomedex last year with us, and attended the Hejira concert at my house back in February when Kat was here. Why didn't he just come on over here to ask his question? In any case, Craighton called to ask me how I could see the iPad used as an educational tool in schools. An example would be all students being issued an iPad with all of their books loaded right on the device, assignments done and turned in this way and so forth. http://chris.pirillo.com

How to Get a Camera on the iPad

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - One of the biggest shortcomings of the first gen iPad is the fact that it has no camera. There IS a workaround if you happen to have an iPhone. You'll need two apps in order to make this work. One is free, the other is ninety-nine cents. The apps are called Camera-A and Camera-B. Once you get them, it's pretty easy to start snapping pictures. http://chris.pirillo.com

What is the Future of Arcades?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - Arcades. That's such a beautiful word which brings back a lot of good memories for me. I spent as much time as possible during my younger days in the local video game arcade, feeding quarters into my favorite machines. Eric called from California the other night to talk about the olden days, and to ask my thoughts on where the future of arcades in the U.S. is heading. http://chris.pirillo.com

http://www.wolframalpha.com/ - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - While walking around the conference floor during SXSW recently, I happened across the Wolfram Alpha booth. Their long-term goal is to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone. Wolfram Alpha's goal is to deliver to you answers that are definitive. Should You Build Your Own PC?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - I had a caller from Australia the other night whose older computer has served him well for a number of years. Lorex Security System Review

http://go.tagjag.com/lw22 - http://go.tagjag.com/lh400 - I've demonstrated home security systems in the past. This time, I've gotten my hands on a couple of different systems from Lorex. I'll even be giving one of these products away at the end of this video review. One of the systems allows you to "Connect. See. Hear. Protect". You can connect the camera to any electrical outlet. It then transfers to a wireless receiver which is connected to my Slingbox software. The other allows you to record as well as watch what's going on. So how would you like to win one of these systems? http://chris.pirillo.com

Which is More Usable - a Mac or Windows PC?

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - During live calls the other night, I had a guy ask me whether I felt that Macs are becoming more mainstream than Windows machines. He went on to say how he knew that in the past Macs weren't very "user friendly," and that he feels they are much more so now. The user interface on a Mac has certainly changed over the years, yes. But you have to look at it like this: it's still completely different than what Windows users are used to. Many long-time Windows power users give up when trying out a Mac. They feel they cannot find their way around. I've seen it happen many times. With that said, though, it all comes down to a matter of opinion and preference. I cannot possibly tell you which is better for you - or anyone else - to use. It depends what your likes and needs are. http://chris.pirillo.com

iPad vs Netbooks

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - TechJohnson is a regular member of our live chat room. He recently asked if I thought that the iPad will "overtake" the market for netbooks. Keep in mind that an iPad isn't technically a netbook before you even decide what your answer is going to be. I happen to have both an iPad and a netbook... both purchased with my own hard-earned money. While the netbook I have certainly works, I rarely use it or take it with me anywhere. The keyboard is too small, and it's just slow. All netbooks I've played around with seem to be sloooooooow. That's not a good common denominator in my opinion. http://chris.pirillo.com

How to Turn off a Printer That Won't Turn Off

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo - One caller the other night was concerned that his "new" printer has no off button. He had purchased a used Lexmark X125 machine for $25.00 and couldn't figure out how to shut the thing down. The only buttons on it (according to him) either start or pause a print job. iPad Keyboard Dock Review

http://go.tagjag.com/keyboarddock - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - I am definitely enjoying my iPad, even though I've only had it for a few days now. The main problem I'm having, though, is trying to type on the device. When in Landscape mode, it's seriously difficult to type with my thumbs (or even all ten digits!). In Portrait mode, it's a little easier to use my thumbs. However, the virtual keyboard is so large that I can't go very fast. To solve this problem, I bought myself the iPad Keyboard Dock from Apple. http://chris.pirillo.com - http://facebook.com/chrispirillo

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - http://www.lockergnome.net - During live calls recently, Alex called in to ask my opinion on the differences between using WordPress and using Tumblr to blog. http://go.tagjag.com/ipad - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - I'm going to go on the record and say that 95% of the apps available for the iPad are going to be drawing-related in some way. Unlock the iPad Zoom Feature

http://go.tagjag.com/ipad - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - Even with the larger screen on the iPad, some people may have trouble reading what's in front of them. There are a countless number of people who have impaired vision, and Apple kept them in mind. It's quite easy to zoom in on anything you may be looking at on the device. All you need to do is double-tap the screen with three fingers... then slide your fingers upwards until the zoom is where you want it to be. To go back to normal size, double-tap with those three fingers again and then slide them down. This works throughout the operating system - no matter what application you may be using. http://chris.pirillo.com

iPad Case Review

http://go.tagjag.com/ipad - http://twitter.com/chrispirillo - When we recorded the iPad FAQ video the other night, I mentioned that I was going to purchase some type of case for the iPad. I did end up heading out to the Apple store to grab the "official" iPad case. It's very functional, and works well for the most part. There are a couple of things that I don't particularly like, and I'm hoping those can be addressed by Apple. What type of case are you using for your iPad if you have one? http://chris.pirillo.com

What Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Do You Recommend?

http://go.tagjag.com/mediadesktop - I have three monitors and one large surface, thanks to Eyefinity by AMD. I have these screens connected to a new AMD computer system, sent to me by AMD as well. I will be reviewing that system at a later date, so stay tuned for it. As I set up this new system on the live stream, I realized I didn't have the right keyboard and mouse to use with it. Sure, I have several keyboards and mice lying around. However, they all have cords attached to them. I prefer wireless systems, so I went shopping. I picked up this Microsoft Wireless Media Desktop set for just about seventeen bucks. It looks great, and works well enough for what I need to accomplish. I will upgrade the mouse and keyboard combo if I find the right one. This is where YOU come in. What set do you recommend? What do you use? Why do you love it?
