The Best Image Editing Software

http://live.pirillo.com/ - What do you use to edit your photos? Clay asked what Chris recommends for editing digital photos.

There are a lot of different software tools that you can use, and Chris has used them all.

Paint Shop Pro is a powerful alternative to Photoshop, and has a free demo:

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo XI combines automatic photo fixes, precision editing controls and a built-in photo organizer, making it the easiest way to get professional-looking photos, fast!

Photoshop is very advanced and powerful, but can be unwieldy and pricey. They offer Photoshop Elements, but that can still be overkill for the average user.

Paint.Net is a free utility that brings modern day photo editing to the .Net platform:

Paint.NET is free image editing and photo manipulation software for computers that run Windows. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.

The GNU Impage Manipulation Program (GIMP for short) is a free, open source, and very powerful image manipulation utlity:

GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

Chris got Ponzi to use Picassa, which has basic photo editing features:

Picasa is a free software download from Google that helps you:

  • Locate and organize all the photos on your computer.
  • Edit and add effects to your photos with a few simple clicks.
  • Share your photos with others through email, prints, and on the web: it’s ast, easy and free.
