Are You Ready for Blu-Ray DVD?

http://live.pirillo.com - Now that the Format War is over (for now at least), I realize I will have to buy myself a Blu-Ray drive one of these days. I'm not in a rush, however. When I do buy one, it will be an external USB drive, so I can take it with me from one machine to another in my house.

Weather on the Wii

http://live.pirillo.com - You know, the Wii is addicting... even without loading up a single game. I have discovered all kinds of cool things you can do. Did you know you can get the local weather... right on the Wii?

Comcast Technician Falls Asleep: The Interview

http://live.pirillo.com - So I was sitting there in my chair, taking calls on the 888-PIRILLO line. Normally, the callers have a tech-related question to ask. I was shocked when this caller identified himself not only as a fan... but also as the guy who snapped pictures of a Comcast Tech sleeping on his couch!

Get Your News on the Wii

http://live.pirillo.com - Now that I'm finding my way around on my new Wii, I am having a great time discovering everything I can do with it. Did you know, for example, that you can get your local news... right on your Wii?

Luke Skywalker Wants a Wii

http://live.pirillo.com - A few months ago, I had a bit of fun with an open source utility called MacSaber. I remember hearing someone saying that the WiiSaber had come along, causing the same sound effects. Being a huge Star Wars and Luke Skywalker fan, I HAD to try this!

Wii Setup

http://live.pirillo.com - The Wii is finally unboxed, set up and turned on. I press the "A" button to sync the Wiimote with the console. Time to choose the language, and set the date. Let's walk through the rest of the setup now.

Open Source Wii Software

http://live.pirillo.com - Minutes after I sliced my finger on the Wii box, I decided to download a program for Mac OS X called "DarwiinRemote". Essentially, you connect your WiiMote via Bluetooth to any Mac running OS X.

The Nintendo Wii Unboxing

http://live.pirillo.com - I'm in the middle of unboxing my Wii... a full year or more after everyone else unboxed theirs. I think I'm the last Geek on Earth to have one. The packaging on this thing is really cool, and was fun to play with.

Subscribe and Possibly get a Web Cam

http://live.pirillo.com - Every week we give away a web cam, courtesy of our friends at Ustream. The requirements to be eligible for our weekly giveaways are simple. Make sure you tune in every week for your chance to win!

Blu-Ray Wins: HD-DVD is Dead

http://live.pirillo.com - Up until recently, there was a huge Hi-Definition format war in relation to DVDs. We had HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray. Now... HD-DVD has gone the way of the Do-Do bird.

How to be Successful with Computer Repair

http://live.pirillo.com - At one point, I wanted to be a computer repair person. It didn't really pan out. After a summer of delivering pizzas, I realized I didn't want to enter people's homes on a regular basis. I really love the work I'm doing online, helping all of you for free, via my blog and the live calls.

How to Start with Ubuntu Linux

http://live.pirillo.com - Are you a Linux fan? I know my System Administrator Allan would yell to forget Linux, and use FreeBSD. This isn't a FreeBSD conversation, though, it's an Ubuntu one. But it's just funny that Allan came to mind here, since today at work in Canada, he was recognized by someone for being part of my live show.

Safety First

http://live.pirillo.com - The other night when Ponzi's plane came in extremely late, we were driving home and noticed a couple of cars. One was pulled over to the side of the road, and the other was upside-down. We were about the second car on the scene.

Xbox DVD

http://live.pirillo.com - I have 4 Xbox 360s, for the simple reason that I can share media throughout the house, or be able to play games wherever I am. I was lucky to win these a few years ago. I received an email from someone saying that they are considering selling their Xbox 360 to buy a PS3. What?!

Is the HP Blackbird 002 any Good?

http://live.pirillo.com - A caller to the 888-PIRILLO line asked me what my opinion is on the new HP Blackbird 002. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use this product, so I don't have an opinion. If you're talking about a gaming rig, then you definitely NEED a pc... not a Mac.

Technology Jobs in Smaller Communities

http://live.pirillo.com - I grew up in Iowa, and I was a big Evangelist in Iowa as far as helping to bring small businesses to Iowa. Mike sent me an email, asking what I thought about Iowa enticing Microsoft into building a DataCenter in DesMoines... especially in light of the recent Class Action Lawsuit against Microsoft.

Tech Blogs

http://live.pirillo.com - I get emailed every minute of every day. Many of the ones I get now are junk emails. I love when all of you send in good questions, though. Vito sent in a question, asking me if "Tech Blogs" are overdone, or not. Have they become too common?

Task Switching

http://live.pirillo.com - Every power user uses Alt+Tab. In the case of Mac OS X, it's Command+Tab. Inside of Windows, I knew there had to be a better way to switch between tasks.

The Mac vs PC Challenge

http://live.pirillo.com - My assistant Kat is a Windows Expert, according to many people. She spends countless hours a day volunteering her time to help people fix their Windows machines. Last night... she used her new Mac Mini for the first time. I had to get her on the phone, to get her first impressions... and to find out exactly why she's using a Mac in the first place.

Telemarketing: Comcast's Traffic Shaping Feature

http://live.pirilo.com - So this telemarketer from Comcast called me the other night. He attempted to sell me their Triple Play package. He kept letting me know how much I needed their services... even though I already have them. Once it became apparent that the guy had no clue what their services actually ARE and what they DO... I decided to have fun with him.

Good Business Guidelines

http://live.pirillo.com - I've owned and operated my own business for many years now. For the most part, it's gone very well for me. Yes, of course I've made mistakes. But... I've also made some excellent business decisions.

Windows Mobile vs iPhone

http://live.pirillo.com - One of the callers to the 888-PIRILLO line has just received a new htc Touch. He did have an iPhone... and prefers the Touch. I, of course, disagree with him. Let's compare!

Track Your Finances Online for Free (without Software)

http://live.pirillo.com - In this day and age of investment opportunities available, how do you manage to keep track of everything? Did you know you can track all of your finances online... without software?

How to Tweak Mac OS X

http://live.pirillo.com - There are arguments claiming that Mac OS X is not configurable. That could have been the case way back before OS X. However, Macs have been "tweakable" for years.

One Big Monitor or Two Smaller Screens

http://live.pirillo.com - The first time I ever plugged a second monitor into my system, it was interesting. Of course, issues arose... as is usually the case with anything new. Having two monitors in many cases is better than one.

Home Theater Speakers and your PC

http://live.pirillo.com - One of the callers from the 888-PIRILLO line is having trouble connecting his home theater system to his PC. He can hear sounds coming from it, but when he plays games and such, he's not getting surround sound.

Making an Investment in Yourself for Business

http://live.pirillo.com - Robert has sent in some excellent tips for going into business, saying: "I will say I have learned all this and more since opening my first business in the Philippines which was a Drinks shop and I'm only 19. Its been open for just under a year and I'm soon to open my second one."

How Not to Send an Email

I don't know if such a list has already been sent to you, but in any case here are my views that I am sure you can mix with other peoples views to make a super-list."

Mac Media Software (and Saving Money)

http://live.pirillo.com - This caller had several questions. He just converted to Mac from Windows... and is needing some video editing software for the Mac. He's hoping to find something for a Mac that works even half as good as what Nero can do.

Boot Camp vs VMware or Parallels

http://live.pirillo.com - Apparently, Virtual Machines are a hot topic! I've had a few calls lately asking about them, the differences, and my recommendations. This caller is buying a Macbook Pro, and is wondering what he should use as far as running Windows programs.

Parallels or VMware

http://live.pirillo.com - I was involved in a conversation on the 888-PIRILLO line the other night, when the talk turned to using Parallels. The caller has been using Parallels, but has been having a lot of troubles with the CD drive not wanting to mount.

Open Source Media Player Alternatives

http://live.pirillo.com - This live call involved a gentleman asking me for a good free alternative to Windows Media Player. He's had a lot of trouble using WMP, and doesn't really like it.

Wubi or Live CD for Linux

http://live.pirillo.com - When I opened the 888-PIRILLO phone line the other night, I had an interesting call with a Linux problem. Let's take a listen and see how it worked out.

Eventually, Someone Wins the Web cam

http://live.pirillo.com - Just like every week, we gave away a web cam on Friday. This one started out a bit rocky, since all the people who were being chosen were away from their computers. But, of course... we found our winner in the end.

Korg Kaossilator for Easy Music Creation

http://live.pirillo.com - My latest musical gadget is the Korg KAOSSILATOR. It's a dynamic phrase synthesizer. Anyone can instantly play musical phrases by simply tapping or sliding their finger across the KAOSSILATOR's Touch Pad.

How to Develop a Sense of Rhythm

http://live.pirillo.com - Apparently, it's quite obvious when I play with the KAOSSILATOR that I don't have a sense of rhythm. Mbonzo is a long-time percussionist, and sent me these tips to help me out. Let's see if they work.

How to FAX over VOIP on the Internet

http://live.pirillo.com - Brightstar wrote: "I keep hearing about how hard it is for faxes to work through VOIP. I've prepared a top 5 list of things you can do to make sure your faxes have the best chance of going through."

Find Windows Drivers for Hardware

http://live.pirillo.com - I had a caller the other night on the 888-PIRILLO line who was asking where he can find drivers for old Windows hardware. His machines are, of course, home-built.. making this even more challenging.

How to Invest Money

http://live.pirillo.com - MrBogosity wrote: "I liked your top 5 tips on saving money. One of them dealt with investments, which is really important. They can bring things to life, carry data, output sound. But the more cables you get, the harder it is to keep track of them. They start showing up in different locations around your room or home office. Here are my top five tips for cable management."

Getting in Trouble with the Mac Pro

http://live.pirillo.com - Meet Big Mac... or at least the box in which Big Mac sits. It arrived today, and I am officially making my move away from Windows as my primary Operating System. It won't be a perfect transition, of course.

Booting up Apple's New Mac Pro for the First Time!

http://live.pirillo.com - The unboxing is done. The new RAM and hard drive are installed. Everything is hooked up. It is now... FINALLY... time to turn this sucker on!

How to Install a Hard Drive in an Apple Mac Pro

http://live.pirillo.com - You've already seen the unboxing of my new Big Mac. You hopefully watched how easy and beautiful it was to install more memory. Now, let's put it to the test... and install a third hard drive into it.

How to Install Computer Memory in an Apple Mac Pro

http://live.pirillo.com - I've already done the great unboxing of my new Mac Pro. Now, let's take a look at installing some more RAM into Big Mac. Yes... I named the Mac Pro. Yes... it really IS named Big Mac.

Apple Computer - Live Mac Pro Unboxing

Free Live Tech Support Calls on Friday Night

http://live.pirillo.com - I had several interesting tech calls tonight. We start off with Rick calling to ask about his Panasonic cordless phone like mine. He's having trouble recording with his, and wanted to know how I was able to do this with mine.

http://live.pirillo.com - I had someone call in tonight on the 888-PIRILLO line to ask me whether Leopard is so much better than Tiger that it is worth paying for the upgrade. He asked "is it extremely better... is it worth $120.00?".

How to Build an Internet Community

http://live.pirillo.com - Building a strong Internet Community is no easy feat. It takes perseverance, dedication and a lot of hard work. I've been doing this for a long time now, and thought I would pass on some of my experience to you.
